A Tribute to the late Mrs. Helen DeVos, Benefactor, Humanitarian, Friend and Committed Worker in God’s Vine Yard. The Bible tells us to work while it is day. In our work to advance the Kingdom of our Savior down here we, through our service to God and humanity, we lay up treasures in Heaven. Mother Helen DeVos followed faithfully these teachings of Christ while she journeyed on this earth. She demonstrated her service in profound and practical ways in Liberia. Helen will be remembered for a lifetime of giving to thousands of needy men, women and children including hundreds of Liberians. Her work in Liberia has changed the landscape of eastern Liberia, specifically, Bo-Waterside, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, West Africa. Over the last six years she and her husband Richard, have generously supported the construction and operations of the Richard and Helen DeVos Village. The DeVos Village is comprised of the Helen DeVos Medical Center, the Alexander Ketter, Jr., and Sr. High Academy, Providence Water Company, an Agriculture project, and an Early Childhood Development Center. The Village provides Medical Services to hundreds of people daily who otherwise would not have been able to get such valuable service for a minimum cost. Many Children are in school and because she dared to reach out across the sea, she has saved many lives from curable diseases. Many have also embraced the gospel as there is a budding fellowship at the Village ministering to new converts. Because of Mrs. DeVos, many souls have been brought to Christ. THIS TRIBUTE IS for all the things we can remember, for all the things we have forgotten, for all the things we never got a chance to say to you and for all the things we will say when we see you again on THAT GREAT GETTING UP MORNING. These words are for you: REST IN PEACE, MA HELEN (a Liberian expression). You were a gift from God to us and you will live on in our hearts and memories. Thank you from the Liberian people. In His Dust!
